Naming Updates

-

COLAS RAILFREIGHT has named recently-repainted 37057 Barbara Arbon, with the naming carried out by family members Jack Middleton and Richard Arbon at Derby RTC on July 4. A plaque beneath the nameplate reads ‘In loving memory of Auntie Barbara from the Infrastructure Monitoring Team’.

After the naming ceremony, Mrs Arbon's family travelled in Inspection Saloon 975025 Caroline, hauled by 37057 and 37421, calling at Derby station where a wreath was attached to 37057. The train then worked a circular private tour from Derby RTC to Derby RTC, via Chesterfield, Beighton Junction, Sheffield and back through Chesterfield.

Barbara, who died in June 2020, worked in various clerical roles within Serco Railtest and Operations, Network Rail, DB Schenker and, more recently, Colas, where she worked as Infrastructure Monitoring Operations Administrator.

She always went above and beyond her role ensuring that ‘her’ staff were well looked after.

During the naming ceremony she was described as the “mother and head of the Infrastructure Monitoring family” by Colas duty manager Craig Tyrrell.
