Two DEPG locomotives go out on loan

-

TWO RESIDENT members of the West Somerset Railway diesel fleet are leaving the line temporarily, as the Diesel & Electric Preservation Group loan Class 14 D9526 and 47077 North Star to other heritage lines. D9526 has gone to the Kent & East Sussex Railway for the remainder of the year to cover for the KESR’S classmate D9504, which is out of traffic undergoing an overhaul.

Meanwhile, 47077 is heading in the opposite direction and will be taking up a two-year residency at the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. The move was originally planned to have taken place over a year ago, but the pandemic restrictions delayed its movement. With restrictions now being relaxed, the move to the NYMR is expected to take place in the near future.

?? ?? Prior to moving to Bishops Lydeard to await road transport to take it to the North Yorkshire Moors Railways, 47077 North Star stands at Williton on June 21. The Class 47 is to go on hire to the NYMR for two years. Lee Robbins
