Funds sought to secure Class 143 for Wensleydale

THE GROWING collection of ‘Pacer’ units to be homed on the Wensleydale Railway looks set to grow further with the railway securing former Tyne & Wear PTE Class 143, 143623. However, the railway has urged supporters to make donations towards the costs of moving the DMU to the railway, with a target of £5000 being sought, to ensure that it can be secured with incentives being offered to donors. Should 143623 be confirmed for Wensleydale, it will become the first heritage railway to secure examples of the three main production Class 142, 143 and 144 ‘Pacer’ designs.
