S&DLC Class 20s reunited again at Mid Hants Railway

AFTER TAKING part in the Spa Valley Railway’s summer diesel event, the Somerset & Dorset Locomotive Company’s Class 20, D8188, moved to the Mid Hants Railway in mid-august, joining the S&DLC’S other Class 20, D8059.

D8188 was only due to go the Spa Valley Railway for its March 2020 diesel gala, but due to the coronavirus pandemic the event was cancelled and the Class 20 has remained at the SVR for the last 18 months, before playing a leading part in the summer diesel event from August 6-8.

It is not the first time D8188 has been on MHR metals. It was last at the railway in 2001, painted in Waterman Railways black livery, although both D8188 and D8059 are now resplendent in BR green colours.
