GWSR moves to secure Honeybourne trackbed

Railway Paths Ltd, a Department for Transport (Dft)backed sister charity of Sustrans, wants to dispose of the Broadway-honeybourne trackbed.

As a result, the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway (GWSR) has contacted the DFT in an effort to safeguard the route.

In theory, the GWSR would like to take ownership of the trackbed as part of its longterm goal of reaching Honeybourne and a main line interchange.

However, many of the bridges are in extremely poor condition and the GWSR is not currently in a financial position to take responsibility for them.

It is calling on the DFT to ensure that this potential extension is not compromised.
