Welshpool ‘original’ is returning to traffic

-

The Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway’s (WLLR) original 1902-built Beyer Peacock 0-6-0T The Earl has returned from the Vale of Rheidol Railway after major overhaul.

Now wearing GWR green, the same as its out-of-ticket sister The Countess, it is expected to return to traffic shortly.

To ensure that the WLLR always has one of the original pair in steam, overhaul of The Countess is not yet programmed. Its certificate expired earlier this year, and with Covid delaying The Earl’s overhaul, it dashed plans to have both in steam.
