Steaming over the Ouse on August 30, 2018.
I’ll admit that I’m no expert when it comes to steam locomotives, and steam photography is not something I do very often unless I am presented with a perfect opportunity. On this particular day, I travelled on the sleeper to Glasgow from London Euston, and would return from Edinburgh to King’s Cross, via a stop-over in York. As it was summer, the steam charters from Carlisle to
Scarborough were in full swing, diesel powered to York, with steam taking the train forward to Scarborough.
A quick photo of the train’s arrival, followed by a walk along the River
Ouse to position myself as 45690 Leander was due to cross.
I actually love this picture, as there’s so much happening, and it was rather fortuitous with the ‘Royal Duchess’ city cruiser passing right on cue.
