Railways Illustrated

An alternative view of the Forth Bridge on July 30, 2019.

-

Another of my all-time favourite photos and one that needed more research than usual, with a fairly decent walk to the location involved. I’d actually seen a picture of the Forth Bridge from Rosyth before, but not with the railway line in it. A bit of research on Google maps didn’t reveal a lot, but if I could see this road from the train, then

I’m sure I could see the train from this road!

Another look on maps revealed the nearest station to be Inverkeithing, followed by a 30 minute uphill walk. Bingo. I’d found it and was blown away with the view, showing the steel beast rising from the Forth.

And so I waited for a northbound unidentified LNER HST that was working a Leeds to Aberdeen service.

I will be returning to this location soon as I was never quite happy with the average visibility and I had also gone up the previous day, but could hardly see the bridge that day.
