Dartmoor stock goes for scrap

-

EARLY SEPTEMBER saw many of the unsold vehicles remaining at the Dartmoor Railway and still owned by RMS Locotec disposed of for scrap. This included the removal of five Mk.2 ‘air-cons’ to Allelys’ yard at Studley, where 3387, 5920, 6002, 6181 and 9492 had their bogies removed before the bodies were forwarded on to EMR at Kingsbury for disposal. Having failed to attract suitable offers, 4-CEP DMSOS 61742 and 61743 along with 4-BIG buffet 69310 were also sent to their doom at Sims, Newport, as was Mk.3a sleeper 10518. Mk.1 CCT 94691 and closely-related ferry van version B889022 have also left Dartmoor for a new home in Scotland, although the exact location details for the pair are still to be confirmed.
