Hospital use for Class 144

The last Class 144 car to find a new use following withdrawal is 55801 from 144001, which was transferred from Worksop to Airedale General Hospital in Steeton, West Yorkshire, on September 5.

This was one of the winners of the Department for Transport competition to find a new role for the vehicles and has been donated by Porterbrook. The car was subsequently lifted into position on a track panel around which an access platform has been built, while it will be converted internally into a support space for children receiving treatment at the hospital and their families.
