WH Davis unveils Megabox

August saw WH Davis showcase the first of its new JNA Megabox wagons at its Langwith Junction workshops at Shirebrook. Announced at the beginning of the year, 46 of these 75 cubic metre box wagons are being built for Beacon Rail using bogies, drawgear and brake equipment recovered from scrapped HHA hopper wagons.

Finished in dark blue with GBRF lettering, 81 70 5932 105-6 is the first of the breed with the remainder to be numbered 81 70 5932 106-150. WH Davis has also received an order to build 30 additional JNA box wagons to a more conventional 60 cubic metres capacity for delivery in the spring of next year.
