County of Glamorgan's new tender now in build

arrival of ‘kit of parts’ by Goodman Metal Works, Netherfield, Nottingham, progress is being made with construction of the unique tender tank for ‘new-build’ GWR 4-6-0 1014 County of Glamorgan at the Great Western Society (GWS), Didcot The ‘County’ was the only class to have tenders 8ft 6in wide, with a distinctive flat-sided shape, compared with 8ft or other GW tenders. The outside sheets have been bolted to the frames, while the internal baffles are tack-welded. The ‘new build’ uses the frames from GWR 4-6-0 7927 Willington Hall and the boiler from LMS ‘8F’ 2-8-0 48518.
