GWSR 40th closes season

-

Warwickshire Steam Railway is staging a “spectacular” 40th anniversary event on November 6/7, re-dated from October. The mixed traction gala is the line’s first for many years. A highlight is the rare operation of SR ‘Merchant Navy’ 4-6-2 35006 Peninsular & Oriental SN Co. It is joined by GWR 2-8-0T 4270, BR(W) 4-6-0 7903 Foremarke Hall and BR(W) 4-6-0 7820 Dinmore Manor.

The steam workshops at Toddington and Winchcombe’s Carriage & Wagon Works will be open to visitors. An intensive timetable of more than 30 arrivals and departures at Toddington each day includes non-stop trains, double-heading and a demonstration freight train, with opportunities to ride in the brake van.

Steam footplate rides for £150 including event entry (advanced booking only) are also being offered.
