37425 and 37402 work along the S&C on June 15, 2021.

-

6K05, the engineers' train from Carlisle to Crewe, typically turns out a DRS Class 66 or 68 on the front. But on this June morning there were rumours floating around of a pair of ‘Tractors’ being allocated to the working, and as soon as I heard that 37425 and 37402, both resplendent in their retro liveries, were to be paired up, I was in the car and heading north towards the S&C.

As I was heading up, the choices of locations to hear these two battling the incline to Aisgill were very tempting, but I knew they would be over-populated, and so as I always try to do with my images, I opted for something away from the crowds. Far Moor came to mind, with the stunning views of the Dales stretching as far as the eye can see, and fields bursting with summer colour courtesy of the buttercups creating a lovely carpet of yellow amongst the barn on the opposite side of the line.
