Class 40 Appeal releases new book dedicated to 40012

THE MIDLAND Railway – Butterley-based Class 40 Appeal (CFA) has released a new book chroniclin­g the history of 40012 Aureol.

Written by CFA chairman Paul Hill, the limited edition 180-page hardback book, titled The Life & Times of D212 Aureol, has been released to assist in raising funds for the ongoing preservati­on and maintenanc­e of 40012.

The book details the history of the locomotive throughout it life, including its British Rail operating days, its department­al use in connection with the Crewe remodellin­g works, and in preservati­on.
