Storm Grid, 56087, at Garsdale Head on June 1, 2018
Yep, another grab shot, if I’m honest!
The planned image includes the Dandry Mire viaduct and the small Mount
Zion Primitive Methodist Chapel in the foreground, but once I’d reviewed the day’s efforts, I actually much preferred this one. Keeping one eye on the changing weather (always wise in this neck of the woods!), I noticed some interesting cloud developing and that a good drenching was highly likely.
After the 56, which was working from Crewe to Carlisle, had crossed the viaduct, I quickly closed the aperture down a stop or so, refocussed, and fired a few shots. This image has been chosen for its simplicity, the detail in the silhouetted loco, and the fantastic cloud formation.
Soon after we were duly soaked in the storm and made our way to the Moorcock Inn, a great place for refreshments and to catch up with the train schedule on Wi-fi in the warmth!
