Pioneer Diesel’s 33035 deputises for unavailable Class 14 at Wensleydale

-

D9523 was due to work the post-christmas diesel trains at the Wensleydale Railway on December 29 but was replaced after the owner’s car was stolen – with vital parts for the locomotive unfortunately inside the vehicle. The Class 14 was replaced by Pioneer Diesels’ 33035, which handled the trains, with 03144 assisting by doing shunt release moves at Leeming Bar.

The line hadn’t operated locomotive-hauled services throughout 2021 prior to the hugely successful Polar Express pre-christmas services, but its locomotive-hauled trains over the festive period – which also saw 37250 in use along the line – proved to be extremely popular.

The majority of services over the Wensleydale Railway are usually operated using DMUS.
