fresh coat of BR maroon, TSO 4939 was returned to The Battlefiel­d Line a week or so before Christmas after minor repairs and a repaint at Nemesis Rail, Burton.

Also back home at the North Norfolk Railway is BCK 21224 after the fitting of toilet retention tanks at the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, it returning south during December. A new arrival at the Ecclesbour­ne Valley Railway during the first week of January was RMB 1874, which has been acquired from the Bodmin & Wenford Railway. Initially it will receive a repaint from its existing carmine and cream livery into Pullman colours on one side and will replace former Gatwick Express Mk.2f 72617 in static catering use at Wirksworth, although the intention is to return it to active service on the railway in due course.

During a light snowfall, volunteers inspect the newly-delivered coach at Wirksworth. It has since been moved into the restoratio­n shed for work to begin.
