Andrew Hall to lead RAIB

FOLLOWING THE announceme­nt that Simon French OBE was to retire as chief inspector of the Rail Accident Investigat­ion Branch (RAIB), current deputy Andrew Hall will succeed him from April 1.

Mr Hall has worked at RAIB since 2004 and as deputy chief inspector since 2015. A chartered electrical engineer with many years’ experience in the rail sector, he said: “It is a great privilege to be selected to lead the branch. Simon will be a hard act to follow, but whoever the chief inspector is, RAIB’S core role – to investigat­e accidents in order to improve safety and inform – remains.”

Mr French retires after 18 years in the role on March 31.
