Andrew Hall to lead RAIB
FOLLOWING THE announcement that Simon French OBE was to retire as chief inspector of the Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB), current deputy Andrew Hall will succeed him from April 1.
Mr Hall has worked at RAIB since 2004 and as deputy chief inspector since 2015. A chartered electrical engineer with many years’ experience in the rail sector, he said: “It is a great privilege to be selected to lead the branch. Simon will be a hard act to follow, but whoever the chief inspector is, RAIB’S core role – to investigate accidents in order to improve safety and inform – remains.”
Mr French retires after 18 years in the role on March 31.
