New deliveries

A further batch of 30 JNA box wagons for VTG was moved north from Dollands Moor on February 25, with 66740 taking 81 70 5932 641-670 to Wembley. 6Z92, the 03.40 Dollands Moor to Wembley, was repeated on March 4, this time with 66723 and 92044 heading further FEA-G twin sets for GB Railfreigh­t in the form of 81 70 4663 042-060. These were moved on to Peterborou­gh Yard the next afternoon by 66787 leading 66723.

Loram movements

Recent weeks have seen 37418 busily engaged moving rebuilt JNA-Y ballast boxes away from the Loram workshops at Derby and bringing in further MRA sets for conversion. On February 10, a set of the latter, 501039/099/235/236/237, was brought in from Doncaster and the move was repeated 13 days later with 501008/068/139/140/143. Moved to Chaddesden Sidings from Loram four days earlier, newly completed JNA-YS 81 70 5831 065-069 were collected by the Type 3 on February 27 to join the ever-lengthenin­g lines at Gascoigne Wood. 37418 was at it again on March 3, taking 81 70 5832 070-074 from Loram to Toton via Chaddesden to add other wagons to the consist before returning to Derby with MRAS 501037/097/229/230/231.

OTP developmen­ts

Newly-built Matisa B66UC+C tampers DR75505 and DR75506 arrived in the UK on February 23, piggybacki­ng on the transfer of new Tyne & Wear unit 555003. 66001 moved the consist from Dollands Moor to Wembley that evening before Rail Adventure power cars 43465 and 43484 took over for an overnight transfer to Doncaster Belmont. The two Volker Rail machines were duly moved onwards to the company’s Frodingham depot on February 24 behind the Class 43s. Most recently at the Battlefiel­d Line, Plasser & Theurer 07-32 tamper/liner DR73431 was dispatched to EMR’S Kingsbury yard during February for scrapping.

Latest disposals

Booth’s took delivery of another batch of redundant DB wagons from Toton on February 24, this featuring OBA 110233, OCA 112001/135/228/297, MHA/MPA 394039/175/202/219/257/283/291/ 596/676/794/865/915, 396098, MTA 395147/205 and YLA DC967620. More followed on March 2 in the form of OCA 112004, MFA 391462 and MHA/MPA 394119/198/203/2 11/223/234/258/383/557/606 and 396099/101/105. From Stoke wagon works, JGA hoppers RMC17229 and RMC19245 were sent to EMR, Kingsbury, by road on February 13 and 24 respective­ly. Finally, 66125 headed a 6Z85 09.28 Toton-emr, Attercliff­e move on March 9 with OCA 112006/022/089/146/337/367, MFA 391591, MHA/MPA 394280/322/349/367/680/682 and MTA 395211.

Tankers preserved

The 11 TTA tankers secured by the National Wagon Preservati­on Group were collected from Gascoigne Wood by 37418 on March 7 and forwarded to their new home at the Dean Forest Railway via the main line connection at Lydney. Those saved are VTG60197, VTG60591/94/98, VTG60666/83, VTG60763/68/69 and VTG60875/78. Meanwhile, VTG60874 and VTG60879 were due to depart Gascoigne Wood for a new home on the Great Central Railway by the end of the month.
