Two jailed for drug offences in Reading
TWO MEN from London have been sentenced for drug offences in Reading following a joint investigation by Thames Valley Police and the Metropolitan Police.
Ruddy Ewengue, 33, and Tre Fraser, 30, both of Windsor Road, London, were sentenced on Monday, March 25, at a hearing at Reading Crown Court after pleading guilty last year.
On Monday, September 25 last year Metropolitan Police officers conducted a search on a property in Thornton Heath, London.
They found more than £11,000 in cash, around £5,000 worth of crack cocaine and heroin, as well as a razor blade and scales.
Ewengue was also present at the property.
On the same day, Thames Valley Police searched a property on Oxford Road, Reading, locating Fraser, 171 wraps of cocaine, and 64 wraps of heroin, with a street value of around £2,390.
Both men were arrested that day, and charged on the following day, September 26.
They pleaded guilty to two counts of possession with intent to supply a controlled class A drug, namely crack cocaine and heroin, and two counts of being concerned in the supply of a controlled class A drug, namely crack cocaine and crack heroin, at Reading Crown Court on December 15 last year.
Ewengue also pleaded guilty to one count each of acquiring criminal property and assault of an emergency worker.
Both men were sentenced to four years and six months’ imprisonment.
Investigating officer Detective Sergeant Jon Nicholls, based at Reading police station, said: “Ruddy Ewengue and Tre Fraser were caught with a high value of drugs and cash in their possession.
“This sentence sends a message to people involved in the supply of drugs that drugdealing will not be tolerated in Reading and we will be proactive in our response.
“We will continue to pursue this criminal activity and look to protect vulnerable people members of the community.
