Newtown to get new restaurant close to the former Granby pub

-

A NEW food venue serving up pizza, smashed burgers and loaded fries is set to open in place of a closed-down burger hut in east Reading, writes James Aldridge, Local democracy reporter.

The food shack in Cemetery Junction has been the home of many different small food businesses in the past. It was recently the home of Smash N Grab burger takeaway, which received a 4.8 out of five review score on Google before closing down in January.

Prior to Smash N Grab ceasing trade, the food hut was The

Hungry Hut, Gourmet Wraps, Seasons Caribbean takeaway and The Coffee Cabin.

Now the hut is set to be reopened by food businesswoman Shaheera Konoth, with customers being welcomed later this month.

The renaming of the hut as Cozzy Bites has already occurred, with new signage in place.

Mrs Konoth said: “We are doing pizza, smashed burgers and loaded fries.”

While Cozzy Bites hasn’t opened yet, its website states that it will be a ‘neighbourhood destination for quick, delicious, and satisfying fast food takeaway’.

Mrs Konoth is hoping to open on Saturday.

Those looking to fulfil their cravings would do well to get in there early, as Cozzy Bites will run an opening promotion. Mrs Konoth said: “We are giving a 40% discount to customers between April 20 and April 25.”

She also runs the Cozzy Lounge in Wantage which specialises in desserts, snacks and light bites.
