PUMP IT UP

- Rowena

Am I on my own when I say that I find the increasing amount of petrol stations who insist on helmet removal very frustrating? As a full-face helmet user who wears glasses, this means that I have to remove my gloves, remove my glasses (find somewhere safe to store both so that they don’t blow away) then remove my helmet, also having to find somewhere safe to place it, and then I fill the tank. Then I have to carry my helmet to the payment counter (no way am I going to leave an expensive helmet unattended on a garage forecourt), pay for the fuel, then return to the bike and replace everything again.

Wouldn’t it be useful if there was a list of ‘friendly’ filling stations who don’t insist on this practice. That way, we could be less inconvenienced while supporting those who accept us for the decent, honest people that we are. Henry Gregson, member

Great idea Henry – I take it you are volunteering to run this list? Could be quite simple to start a Facebook group for ‘motorcycle friendly filling stations’; probably even with a map of rider-recommended petrol pumps. Set it up, let us know and we’ll pass the word!
