THIS MONTH we’ve been reading THE DENTIST by Tim Sullivan (a British police procedural about a detective with Asperger’s: Saga Noren he’s not); WHERE RAVENS ROOST by Karin Nordin (a promising new name in Scandi crime); THE GHOSTS OF HOLLEFORD LAKE by RC regular Nick Adams (a splendidly spooky historical mystery), SKINS AS SCARLET and UNKNOWN MALE, both by Nicolás Obregón (the second pair of novels featuring Detective Iwata and darned glum, gloomy and great!)

SEEN ON SCREEN… THE MAN WITH THE IRON FISTS which is possibly Russell Crowe’s finest film this century; SPIRAL S7/S8 which means we’ve reached the end of the excellent French crime drama (sob), and GREENLAND starring Gez Butler: how the mighty have plummeted since the days of Sparta, and the entirely bewildering RAIN FALL, based around a half-japanese assassin called John Rain – a great book, but a lousy movie…

Realclassic is published monthly by MMG Ltd, Horncastle, LN9 6JR, UK.
