TIGER TEETHING TROUBLES
Nice pics of the Triumph Terrier recently. Yes, Edward Turner could design tiddlers, such a pity that the factory seemed unable to make them properly. I bought a new Cub in about 1954 and was pleased with the comfort of teles and rear springing. Unfortunately it wore out two primary chains in no time.
I rode it up to Meriden and explained that I thought the clutch was loose on the gearbox. Also, the emergency start did not work and, when one braked heavily, the whole frame vibrated. No comment from the service department: I expect they were pretty fed up.
I spent the day in Coventry and picked up the bike in the afternoon. Result: no more horrible rattling. It had been fitted with a complete new wiring loom and an entirely different rear brake anchor. After that it was a great little bike, but no wonder Triumph went bust, they can’t have made any profit on my Cub!
