THIS MONTH we’ve been reading PSYCHOPATHS ANONYMOUS by Will Carver (a bit of a Fight Club rip-off if we’re honest); DARK SACRED NIGHT by Michael Connelly (Harry Bosch hands the baton to a younger detective); INTRODUCTION TO HUMAN NUTRITION (dietary reference standards, anyone?), THE OFFICIAL SUNBEAM OWNERS BEDSIDE BOOK by Chines Stewart (still essential if terrifying reading for owners of Sunbeam twins); ONE HALF TRUTH by Eva Dolan (the last in the really rather gripping 6-book series about detectives in Peterborough), and ENIGMA OF CHINA ,by Qiu Xiaolong (take a Chinese poet who’s also a party cadre and a senior detective, add a plot and stir gently…)
MEANWHILE AT THE MOVIES…WE dodged Bond at the cinemas because they were far too busy and instead adored Donnie Yen in LEGEND OF THE FIST; bailed on the entirely miserable final season of Battlestar Galactica and opted for THE ORVILLE (which is surprisingly serious for something so silly), and enjoyed INFINITE with Mark Wahlberg in yet another almost instantly forgettable B-movie Realclassic is published monthly by MMG Ltd, Horncastle, LN9 6JR, UK
