MAGNIFICENT
The article by Alan Cathcart about the Magni MB2 in RC209 was very enjoyable. Comparing it to the Krauser MKM 1000, Magni said that the multi-tubular frame on the Krauser was too bulky and no lighter than a good well-made Norton type frame. I can’t imagine someone like Krauser, aiming to design a state of the art chassis, would come up with something that wasn’t lighter than a featherbed frame. As far as I can see, the relative weights are 11.6kg for the Krauser and 18kg for the Magni.
I have nothing against the featherbed, I have one myself. 30 years ago I built a Krauser and found it no more bulky to ride than an R100RS. I’ve never actually seen an MB2 in the flesh, but would love to ride one.
