Finishing touches

With the building work completed, it was time to fit out the kitchen and Kul knew just what she wanted for the new space. ‘In my previous two kitchens I’d had very clean, sharp lines and it worked well,’ she says. ‘So here, I chose a bank of floor-to-ceiling units along the side wall, which, along with all the drawers and cupboards in my island, provided an enormous amount of storage space for everyday kitchen essentials.’ As well as the styling, the degree of detail also mattered. ‘The door edging on the cupboards is rubberised for a soft close, which you don’t often see,’ she adds.

The finishing touches of a home are all important to Kul, and much of the bespoke furniture throughout the property was designed and made by her son David. Adorning the walls and adding colour and character to most of the rooms are Kul’s own paintings, available at Masa-uk gallery. ‘All in all, this has been quite a big project for us, but we’ve ended up with a home that now reflects our personality and our everyday needs,’ says Kul. ‘It was more than worth it.’ Above Dark metallic Lamiera
