Depending on what you’re using your utility room for, you’ll need to think about the best position for it. ‘It may be closely linked to the kitchen, but if it’s a landing place to enter or leave the home, its relationship with the outdoors is also important,’ says Richard Davonport, founder of Davonport Kitchens. ‘It’s best situated to the rear or side – between kitchen and garden – the ideal spot to kick off wellies before entering the main house.’
