Broken plan

Broken-plan layouts bring the advantages of open plan while remedying the potential difficulties. It uses half walls or glass partitions, storage such as shelving, and features like double-sided fires or changes of level to create greater separation between areas. The sense of space and light, meanwhile, remains. It can also be a way to hide pots and pans from seated diners, or to conceal a bathroom that flows from a bedroom.
