when you take down a wall be­tween two rooms, it will fre­quently be­come ap­par­ent that the floor lev­els are not ex­actly the same. af­ter all, they didn’t need to be. once the two ar­eas are open to one an­other, how­ever, even a tiny dif­fer­ence will show. Ei­ther floors will need to be lev­elled or you might choose to use a step be­tween spa­ces to help zone the ar­eas. You might also need a plas­terer if knock­ing through has re­vealed slightly un­aligned walls that, like the floor, didn’t need to meet pre­cisely be­fore.
