ANNA Victoria, VICTORIA & FINCH

@victoriaandfinch

‘I make colourful handmade ceramics designed to uplift everyday moments,’ says Anna. ‘I discovered my love of ceramics two and a half years ago – I’ve been hooked since my first pottery lesson – and set up my own business with encouragement from family and friends. It’s squeezed into mornings, lunch breaks, evenings and weekends alongside my job as a marketer. Over the last 10 months I’ve been beavering away on a new collection of wheel-thrown tableware – the culmination of experimentation, hard work and patience. Ceramics make you slow down; each stage can’t be rushed – very different to the corporate world.’ victoriaandfinch.co.uk

LILY PEARMAIN

@lily.pearmain.ceramics ‘I’m a potter making functional stoneware tableware in my studio in south east London, using a natural palette,’ says Lily. ‘I was a baker and signed up for pottery evening classes at an adult education centre. I was rubbish but loved it, and I carried on from there. After about a year of doing it as a hobby, I was hired as a technician at a members’ studio, and learnt a lot very quickly as I was thrown in at the deep end. I started selling my work, got my own studio – which was a big moment – and went full-time about two years ago. I love experimenting; making things I’ve never made before or discovering a new process.

I also really love the community of potters I have around me, and

I’ve been proud to work with some amazing shops.’ lilypearmain.com
