Isobel Roberts, 21, mum to Olivia Rose, two, and Aurora, 20 months, says, ‘Start off by pointing out other children wearing hats, scarves and gloves, and praise them for being so well-behaved. Go to the library and find books that include illustrations of children wearing winter clothes, or point this out during a TV programme.’ Jasmine Newbury, 25, mum to Tommy, nine, and LuciaLily, 14 months, says, ‘I’ve found longlength gloves are harder for little ones to get off, especially if you pull them up and layer over with a coat. Another good alternative is a coat with turnover cuffs. Some kids prefer hoods to hats, or you could try some fun and funky ear muffs.’

Michelle Hughes, 30, mum to Jessica, six, Lucas, nine, and Autumn,

two, says, ‘Children love to copy, so make sure you always wrap up yourself before going out. Do the same with everyone in the family, including pets, teddies and dolls!’
