SAYS LAURA THOMAS, REGISTERED NUTRITIONIST
Write down 100 things you like or appreciate about yourself – not specifically about your body. Include your skills, talents, personality and attributes. ‘This exercise is about learning to value and appreciate yourself as you are,’ says Thomas. ‘Think about how you are as a person – how lovable and worthy you are, independent of changing your body. Your physical body is just your external shell. This will help you learn to appreciate all the other qualities you have. A lot of people struggle at first to find 100. It’s a lot – that’s the point. Then they come back to me and say it was an amazing experience.’ Do as many as you can on your own then ask your partner, your kids or good friends. ‘This helps you see yourself through other people’s eyes.’ Keep what you’ve written so that when you’re having a wobble, an argument, your period or a shit body-image day, you can go back to it. It will remind you that you will feel okay again.
