Actor Julia Ormond shares some of her favourite things

THE CANDLE I LOVE TO LIGHT IS… I adore Rigaud candles – my favourite is Gardenia. The brand does little travel candles, too, which I like to take away with me.

MY SIGNATURE LIPSTICK IS… I only ever wear a lip balm by a brand called Rosebud. I like to be kissable at all times!

MY FAVOURITE INDEPENDENT SHOP IS… LASSCO in London is fabulous. It stocks reclaimed fireplaces, old ornaments, lights… the lot.

MY FOODIE WEAKNESS IS… Mayonnaise. Many years ago,

I was on a family holiday to Ostend in Belgium and we had mayonnaise with chips instead of tomato ketchup. It changed everything.

WHEN I SEND FLOWERS, I CALL… I spend most of my time in LA, where there’s a wonderful florist called Zuma Canyon Orchids.

It does spectacular orchids, which last for ever.

MY ONE-STOP MORNING COFFEE SHOP IS… Starbucks. I like a double espresso with one sugar.

ON TOAST, I LOVE TO SPREAD… Butter and strawberry jam. I was brought up on it and still love it.

MY FAVOURITE PAIR OF SHOES IS FROM… Adidas or TOMS, because of the social impact of the brands. I love the fact that TOMS gives a pair of shoes to a poor child somewhere in the world for every pair sold.

THE BOOK I KEEP ON MY BEDSIDE TABLE IS… There’s usually a self-help book on there, which sits gathering dust for months on end after I’ve dipped into the first chapter.

THE BOXSET I REWATCH OVER AND OVER IS… Modern Family . It’s the only thing I binge-watch.

THE ALBUM I’LL NEVER GROW TIRED OF IS… I can’t choose between two: Rumours by Fleetwood Mac and The Best Of Joe Cocker.

MY BEST HOLIDAY EVER WAS… The first beach holiday I went on as a child. We were in a hotel in Mallorca and, every afternoon, the waiters would gather the kids on the patio and give us coconut ice cream. I could have stayed there for five years.

THE THING I CAN’T STOP BUYING FOR MY HOME IS… Washing-up liquid and washing powder – all the things I keep running out of!

THE SONG THAT GETS ME ON THE DANCEFLOOR IS… I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor. If I was putting on my coat to leave a party and that song came on, I’d hang it straight back up again!

MY FOOLPROOF DINNER PARTY DISH IS… Lemon and basil pasta. I use a recipe from The River Café. It tastes sophisticated, but is easy to make.

‘We is me.’ If you take care of others, they will automatically take care of you.

THE MANTRA I LIVE BY IS…

Julia stars in Gold Digger, which starts on BBC One on 12th November
