THE BEAUTY INFLUENCER
Red’s favourite beauty finds
THIS MONTH I’VE BEEN
SWISHING my hair in front of mirrors to check out its sheeny shiny softness, thanks to Aveda’s new Nutriplenish range of shampoos and conditioners, from £25; DOUSING myself with Parterre’s warm, addictive scent, evocatively named The Hour Of Dusk And Gold, from £70; SWAPPING tinted lip balm for Clarins Lip Milky Mousse, £19, easy-to-wear sheer colour with a whipped-cream texture.
FIT FOR PURPOSE
Conundrum: to wear make-up or not while working out? It can slide over your face, mix with sweat and, if you don’t cleanse, lead to breakouts. But it can also make you feel more confident and, in my case, go some way to ameliorating my signature post-exercise tomato hue. Cue Skin In Motion, ‘exercise-friendly skinwear’ thoughtfully designed by make-up artist, runner and rosacea sufferer Gia Mills. Work It tinted moisturiser, £25, gives subtle, sweat-proof coverage and doesn’t clog pores yet hydrates. Also, I’ve found the Lift It waterproof mascara, £20, stays put throughout hot yoga classes. Hydrating Cool It mist, £20 does what it says on the tin, too, taking the heat out of worked-out skin with mint and licorice extracts. Conundrum solved.
STILL TRENDING…
CBD from the cannabis plant continues to trend as a beauty ingredient, but what’s the story? If the label says cannabis sativa seed oil (aka hemp seed oil), then it contains little or no CBD, though it’s rich in omegas 3 and 6 and amino acids to nourish and strengthen the skin (and put to wonderfully restorative effect in Origins Hello, Calm face mask, £25). CBD comes from the whole plant and is thought to have wider benefits, including anti-inflammatory powers, the ability to reduce sebum production, so helping with acne, and effects on lines and dull skin thanks to anti-oxidants. Find it in the glow-giving Aurelia CBD Super Serum, £64, and blended with essential oils in Balance Me Beauty Sleep Hyaluronic Mist, £20.
