Fill out your quadrant of potential

-

You can use this methodology to begin to map out your natural skill set and your passions; that is, to help you find your dharma. Start by filling in each quadrant – the order they are in may not seem logical, but it gives maximum clarity. Think about this: a lot of us spend most of our time in quadrant one and go to quadrant four for our leisure time. But how could you spend more time in quadrant two? And less in three? Do you think there might be different ways you could bring your skills to your work, or to the universe?

QUADRANT 1 GOOD AT, BUT DON’T LOVE

Often this describes a person’s job. Can you find ways to move towards what you love in the job you already have? And can you find a reason to love your strengths? The best way to add meaning is to look for how it might serve you in the future.

QUADRANT 2 NOT GOOD AT, BUT LOVE

Can you use coaching, take courses or get training to improve what you love? If you don’t have time, you can even learn in 10-minute bursts, from a podcast or a Youtube video.

QUADRANT 3 NOT GOOD AT, DON’T LOVE

Do what you can to crawl out of this soul-sucking quadrant! These are the unpleasant chores. Can you outsource them? Can you trade with a friend? If not, then think of them this way: every task is important. Not one of us is too important to do any chore.

QUADRANT 4 GOOD AT, LOVE

This is where we all want to live, spending our time using our talents to do what we love. How can you do more of this?
