IN GOOD ORDER

Organising your home could make life smoother

- WORDS JAMES CUNNINGHAM

Be honest: when opening a kitchen drawer or the bathroom cupboard, are you met with a sense of calm or a feeling of dread? Decluttering is key to creating order in our homes, and well-arranged spaces are easier to live and relax in, so it’s worth taking the time to get organised. Sorting out unruly nooks and crannies is also a useful way to reassess how you use the space; do you really need stacks of china or multiple collections of glassware stored at opposite ends of the room, for example? The process of getting organised isn’t just about being functional, though – rooms look and feel more beautiful when they’re free of clutter and everything is arranged in its proper place. Whether you subscribe to the Marie Kondo-esque ideal of minimalism, or are just looking to bring a little order to your chaos, the best way to approach home organising is to keep an open mind, think realistically and be prepared to let go.
