NOMAD CITY – GRAN CANARIA, SPAIN
Not only is Gran Canaria blessed with over 300 days of sunshine each year, its green initiatives and low cost of living mean its quality of life score is in the top 5% worldwide (and that’s without mentioning its beautiful beaches, dramatic volcanic landscape and world-class hiking trails). Among its four locations across the island, Nomad City offers a network of hubs to float between, plus the opportunity to island-hop to a further location on La Palma. Self-catering accommodation ranges from The Roof, a spacious penthouse, to The Artisans, a three-bed villa and one-bed apartment that share a patio and workspace. From around £690 a month including accommodation (nomadcity.org).
NOMA COLLECTIVE – VARIOUS LOCATIONS
For those who want a taste of the digital nomad lifestyle but may not be able to commit long-term, digital nomad travel company Noma Collective runs three- and four-week group co-working trips to its nomad villages in locations as varied as Belize, Argentina, Kenya and Antigua. Booking includes airport pick-ups and drop-offs, a private en-suite room, a portable personal hotspot with loaded data and the opportunity to enjoy group events and activities, from dinners at local restaurants to wildlife watching. From £1,761 for 22 nights (noma-collective.com).
TRENTO REMOTE – TRENTO, ITALY
Keen to support its nomads wherever possible, this village located just south of the Dolomites will assist with everything from schools (Italian and English) to yoga classes and gym subscriptions. It also teaches Italianlanguage courses as part of the package, and will even help you pay your taxes and get a visa. Once they’ve found your fully furnished apartment, you’ll be given access to the local co-working spaces, all while taking in the air in Trento, with its picturesque medieval and Renaissance architecture. When you’re ready for the mountains, lakes, vineyards, ski resorts and mountain-bike trails, plus some of the best rock climbing on the planet, Trento will organise excursions. From around £265 a month including accommodation (trentoremote.com).
NOMADX – SÃO VICENTE, CAPE VERDE
In Mindelo, a port city in the northern part of São Vicente (one of Cape Verde’s 10 idyllic islands), you’ll have the opportunity to work and swim with sea turtles every day. The cherry on the cake? Remote workers in Cape Verde are exempt from income tax. Keen to boost local economies, Nomadx has made it part of its mission to work closely with governments to support community projects. It also partners with the rental site Flatio, offering nomads the opportunity to handpick their own accommodation at a discount. From £530 a month including accommodation (nomadx.com).
BOUNDLESS LIFE – SANUR, BALI, INDONESIA
Following the success of locations in Tuscany, Sintra and the Greek island of Syros, Boundless Bali is the newest addition to the network’s collection of family-friendly nomad villages, set to open in July. Located close to the capital of Denpasar, Sanur stretches 5km along the southeast coast, incorporating pristine sandy beaches backed by lush greenery and a town with a long promenade and cycle path. Here, everything is geared up for families, including Boundless’s nature-based education programme for kids, which is inspired by the world-renowned Finnish system (running five days a week from 9am-3pm, with meals and field trips included). Accommodation consists of one-, two- or three-bedroom homes, practically furnished for families. From around £1,865 a month including accommodation (bit.ly/redbali).
COLIVING FRILINGUE – BRAUNWALD, SWITZERLAND
If you always fancied doing a ski season but never got the chance, Coliving Frilingue’s Swiss site, Bourg St Pierre, offers in its package a ski pass for one year that can be used at its three ski resorts. Depending on the season, you may find a chef cooking in the co-working hub’s community kitchen, where you can also cook and swap recipes with fellow nomads from all over the world. Plus, there’s the opportunity to join knowledge and skill exchanges between members of the local community and residents, which take place through weekly mastermind and mentoring sessions. Thermal baths, hiking, canyoning and paddling in the lakes… It barely seems worth mentioning that there are also phone booths, meeting rooms and free tea and coffee in the co-working space. From around £280 for two weeks including shared accommodation (coliving.frilingue.ch).
