Last Ninja 2

-

This is the pinnacle of System 3’s shuriken-slinging series, and though versions of the game appeared on other formats, the C64 was always its true home. The game squeezes an awful lot of commands into its one-buttoned joystick controls, allowing for rich adventure gameplay. The isometric graphics are detailed, well animated and make excellent use of the Commodore 64’s colour palette, while Matt Gray’s excellent SID soundtrack stands the test of time. While later games ultimately pushed the humble 8-bit technology further, few could match Last Ninja 2’s achievements during the machine’s years in the commercial spotlight.
