Fans of the obscure and controversial will get a lot of mileage out of Michael Thomasson’s new book. It covers everything from Mr Mosquito to The Guy Game and looks at various marketing fiascos and publicity stunts that generated controversy at the time of release. Some of the entries reach a little (Super Mario Bros as a reference to drug taking anyone?) and there’s a distinct lack of content on controversial 8-bit home computer games, like Barbarian, but there’s still plenty to sink your teeth into.
