Although linked by a common narrative, Savage’s three stages are effectively different games. Its first level is a frenetic hack-andslash with unforgiving platforming, its second is an into-the-screen shooter that riffs on Space Harrier and its final stage is a deadly maze that you have to guide a laser-spitting eagle around.
