SECTORS
the magical 2d segments used to build levels that then appeared 3d, sectors are the building blocks of any Build game. sectors allowed destructible/dynamic areas in games, and are therefore amazing.
VOXELS
not something you might associate with Build immediately, voxels came into play post-dn3d, with weapons in Blood and switches in Shadow Warrior employing the newer tech.
ROOM OVER ROOM
sectors in the original Build engine couldn’t be stacked on top of one another, meaning developers had to be creative in how they made buildings, staircases and so on. visual trickery goes hand-in-hand with Build.
