EDITOR’S CHOICE Pitfall!
David Crane’s masterwork is everything that we love about Atari 2600 games – a simple concept that’s easy to pick up and play, a good challenge and highly replayable. However, thanks to the programmer’s technical mastery, it’s also very attractive with a nice jungle environment and a Tarzan-style ditty that plays when swinging from a rope.
The design makes up for the system’s limited resources by stitching a small number of mini-challenges together in various combinations to make a large variety of unique screens. There are plenty of copies out there, so there’s no excuse not to have it in your collection.
