Life after death

How the Jaguar shape found a new lease of life

-

One of the most bizarre stories from the Jaguar’s afterlife is the reuse of the moulds to create the Imagin Dental Camera. Injection moulds are fairly expensive things to produce, so not only did Atari see the value in selling them but Imagin clearly saw the value in reusing them rather than pay huge sums of money to create its own. When Imagin became aware of the interest in its creation, the manufacturer actually started selling the white cases for people to use on their own Jaguars. These moulds were then sold on to Mike Kennedy, who had plans to use them to create a new console of his own. Originally called the Retro VGS before being renamed as the fully licensed Coleco Chameleon this new system promised to bring old school games back to the masses. However, it was soon discovered that the whole thing was a sham and no actual hardware had ever been engineered.
