Your guide to the rising world of retro prices
THE COVER STAR Burnout
Luckily for the reckless drivers out there, the original Burnout is easy to catch out in the wild – and it’s cheap, too. Expect to fork out a mere £2 for the PS2 and Xbox versions (plus postage if applicable) with Gamecube flavoured vehicular mayhem likely to set you back – gasp – £4-£6 . Most of the follow-ups, bar the latest, are also available for under £10 .
YIE ar Kung-fu
The majority of all of the home computer conversions of this arcade game can be picked up cheaply, whether in their original clamshell or Hit Squad re-releases. The chief exception is the MSX cart, a boxed copy of which usually sells upwards of £20 .
Skool daze
This school yard classic is common, yet popular, meaning it regularly commands around £10 , a decent amount for a Spectrum game. The budget re-release by Alternative usually mirrors the original price of £1.99 , a good option for those wishing to revisit the happiest days of your life on the cheap.
earthworm JIM 2
Thanks to its release late in the life of the Sega Mega Drive, Earthworm Jim 2 is, while not exactly rare, not cheap as chips. If you want to experience life as a humorous annelid in this excellent follow-up, you’re probably looking at losing between £30 to £40 , depending on the condition of the box and game.
The x-files: RESIST or Serve
As you may expect with such a recent release, this Playstation 2 X-files game always sells for less than £10 , with many auctions ending at around a fiver, posted.
