MOBILE MAYHEM

-

Dear Retro Gamer,

As a new reader of the magazine can I thank you for producing a quality read each month which brings back many happy memories.

I thoroughly enjoyed the recent Nineties feature as this was when I spent the most time playing videogames, and also an issue where I noticed a few feature suggestions in the letters page so I wondered if I may suggest my own. I apologise if this is something you have already done. Forgive me, again I’m a new reader!

Another feature I recently enjoyed was the one about retro games on mobile phones and I’ve recently discovered the Demolition Derby 2 and 3 games on my Android which, as the name suggests, are very similar to the Destruction Derby games which actually inspired me to buy a Playstation on its release date.

The Nineties feature made me wonder if there are more games from that era which now have similar versions available as games for your mobile, and I wondered if there might be mileage in a feature where you could highlight a modern mobile phone game which is based closely on something considered a retro game?

Thank you again for all your hard work and efforts, especially during this difficult time. I hope you know how appreciated it is.

Welcome aboard Michael, we’re happy to have you as a new reader. There are quite a few mobile tributes to classic games – Nick’s particularly partial to Assault Chaingun KM, which draws inspiration from Sega’s arcade game Gunblade NY. This could make for a good feature, so we’ll look into this area and see what we find.
