SEGASONIC THE HEDGEHOG
ARCADE, 1993
For Sonic’s arcade debut, Sega took the unusual step of removing him from his usual side-scrolling environment and sticking him in a trackball-controlled isometric platformer. Sonic gained some new mates in Mighty and Ray, who joined in for three-player action. While this game has been sighted in the UK and elsewhere, it isn’t known to have been officially released outside of Japan – an odd move, considering the massive global popularity of the character at the time. Shockingly, it’s never had a home release.
