The first Sonic Drift was a racing spin-off only released in Japan, but the sequel managed to gain a worldwide release. Compared to the first game, this is clearly superior, with three additional characters, plenty of new tracks and more challenging enemy racers. It’s tempting, as a racing game with power-ups, to compare it to Mario Kart. However, it feels far closer to 8-bit conversions of Out Run and Super Monaco GP due to the limitations of the platform, and it compares well to those games.
