WHAT GAME DEFINES THE AMIGA FOR YOU?

-

DARRAN JONES

It’s probably Eye Of The Beholder II for me, because it convinced me I should sell my NTSC SNES collection. Expertise: Juggling a gorgeous wife, two beautiful girls and an award-winning magazine, all under one roof! Currently playing: Marvel’s Spider-man: Miles Morales Favourite game of all time: Strider

ANDY SALTER

Elfmania, it’s the only game I can remember seeing exclusively on the Amiga. Expertise: Modding games, no ‘vanilla’ versions for me, thanks! Currently modding: STALKER: Anomaly GAMMA Favourite game of all time: Rome: Total War although I guess it’s the Remastered edition now.

DAVID CROOKES

Without a doubt, Sensible World Of Soccer – a perfect match for the Amiga and a game that still makes me sick as a parrot when I lose (which is often!) Expertise: Amstrad, Lynx, adventures, Dizzy and Playstation 2 (but is it actually retro? Debate!) Currently playing: The Secret Of Monkey Island Favourite game of all time: Broken Sword

TIM EMPEY

I reckon it’s Super Cars II.I played that so much, probably more than any other Amiga game at the time. And Xenon 2: Megablast of course. Expertise: Finishing Game Pass games before they go Currently playing: Return To Monkey Island Favourite game of all time: God Hand

PAUL DRURY

Cannon Fodder. It was clever and very poignant, plus it was the first title I’d played that really showed what a mouse controller could bring to a game. Expertise: Peter Grant’s private arcade Currently playing: Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration Favourite game of all time: Sheep In Space

RORY MILNE

In terms of wow factor and pure playability Uridium 2 defines the system for me. It’s like Andrew Braybrook convinced the Amiga that it was the latest hot coin-op. Expertise: The game that I’m writing about at the time of writing Currently playing: Stunt Car Racer Favourite game of all time: Tempest

NICK THORPE

Although I played it most via the excellent Master System conversion and absolutely adored it, Lemmings really felt like it needed a mouse and that always tied it to the Amiga in my mind. Expertise: Owning five Master Systems and a Mark III Currently playing: Donut Dodo Favourite game of all time: Sonic The Hedgehog

ANDREW FISHER

Pinball Fantasies, because of its four excellent tables and great physics. Expertise: Forty years of gaming, from Commodore 64 to Switch Currently playing: Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Favourite game of all time: Wizball

MARTYN CARROLL

Eric Chahi’s Another World. Having just upgraded from a Spectrum, it was the first game to really open my eyes to 16-bit gaming. And that opening sequence! Expertise: Sinclair stuff Currently playing: Resident Evil 6 Favourite game of all time: Jet Set Willy
